The price of the Costco hot dog includes a soda with unlimited refills and has been sold at this low price for years! Fun fact – Costco switched from supplying Coca-Cola products to PepsiCo products in 2013.

The retailer’s first location opened in 1976 under the name Price Club by the Price Company. The first Costco was opened in 1983, before the companies merged in 1993 becoming Price/Costco. In 1997, the corporate name was changed to Costco Companies, Inc.

Costco follows closely behind 1st place competitor Walmart and 2nd place online retailer giant Amazon.

Not the Gold Star membership

On September 1st, 2024, Costco increased membership fees for the first time in seven years. Gold Star membership increased from $60 to $65, while the Executive membership went from $120 to $130, marking an 8.3% increase. Executive members enjoy several perks including 2% back on all Costco Warehouse purchases up to $1,000 cash back annually and the monthly Costco Connection magazine, the fourth largest magazine in circulation in the US!

Executive Membership gives 2% cash back and Citi Bank gives 2% cash back for a total of 4% cash back. The Costco Citi Bank card also gives 1% back on all purchases, 3% on travel & dining, and 4% on gas.
